Every benefit of creatine comes from raising muscle creatine stores over weeks, which requires about 3–5 g a day of creatine that's actually there. Powder delivers that trivially. Gummies have to solve a chemistry problem: creatine monohydrate in water, warmth and acid slowly converts to creatinine, which is inert. Well-made gummies manage it with formulation and storage; poorly made ones don't. That's why testing matters more for gummies than for any other creatine format.
What the lab tests found
In late 2025 a major supplement manufacturer commissioned independent testing of a dozen popular creatine gummies. About half were severely under-strength; one Amazon best-seller delivered well under 1% of its claimed dose. Separate independent reviews in 2026 tested six brands and reported similar results: most failed. A few brands responded with their own third-party potency certificates showing 93–102% of label (Create's gummies, for example, publish per-flavor Eurofins results). How many gummies equal 5 g?
Depends entirely on the label. Common formats:
- 1.5 g per gummy → 3–4 gummies for 4.5–6 g.
- 1 g per gummy → 5 gummies.
- 0.8 g per gummy → 6–7 gummies.
